KL; Ribs by Vintry

I was here for a birthday of a close friend, so for that "Happy Birthday Jason"!!!. Was here for the first time but the food blown me away, compelling me to share this with others.

King of all the ribs: Barbarian BBQ Ribs!!! - Finger licking good...

Ribs and wine - one stop - at Ribs by Vintry, Damansara Heights. A relaxed atmosphere (yes please do eat your ribs with your fingers letting the sauce drip down to your elbows and a sticky tongue dabbing ring of sauce develop around your lips and up to your cheeks), cosy set up and a fantastic wine selection make for a comforting and tummy satisfying evening with friends or family.

You already know the two reasons to visit - ribs and wine. Starting with ribs, the waiter told us that the braised ribs are the most 'special' but our table thought the BBQ pork ribs and the butter cream pork ribs gave them a good run for that honour. Portions are generous and accompanied with some type of vegetable most often mashed potato and coleslaw. Around RM60 will get you a large rack of ribs enough to share or to take home some leftovers. If you are only going along to accompany the carnivore in your life there are a number of other menu options that won't leave you needing a coronary cleaning before midnight.

The Vintry house salad is pretty filling, packed with fresh leaves, cherry and sun dried tomatoes, olives and a tangy papaya dressing. You could also easily just nibble on the cheese platter while blissfully sipping away your hand chosen bottle of wine. Get a recommendation from the trained waitstaff or walk around the racks and coolroom to see for yourself the great assortment of award winning wines from around the world. A decent bottle of wine starts from around RM125 and there is no corkage for wine purchased from the cellar.

So many of us, we decided on variety if dishes for tasting;

Pork ribs sauteed in butter cream & curry leaves-infused sauce. Could have used some bread to mop up the thick, robust gravy.

BBQ pork ribs. Their signature dish really satisfies, though I'm inclined to believe that Checkers nearby still serves chunkier, more succulent ribs.

Beef ribs braised with red wine herb sauce. Tender, but the sauce was too salty and overpowering. Would it be sacrilegious to say we prefer Tony Roma's?

Tom Yum Spaghetti. This might sound like a weird combination, but they were DELICIOUS! I can’t stop picking on the crispy pork lards too. YES, you hear me right; you can actually have crispy pork lards in your spaghetti.

Barbarian Ribs.  I’m not kidding.  Eat it with your fingers (and ruin your manicure).  Tear the meat apart with your teeth (and wonder why it doesn’t take any effort when the meat literally falls off the bones).  Lick that delicious barbecue sauce that clings to the meat.

Rating: 96% (Super Awesome!!!)- but do keep in mind, ur paying for the taste, cost wise "expensive"!!

KL; Restoran Kin Kin - Spicy Pan Mee

All the noodles are home made and processed
Tired from a full blown morning at work, taking a break for lunch decided on this place which is located rather near to my work place.

I was introduced to this place by a friend of mine who was working near this area. She told me that this is a must try Pan Mee as it was very different from the normal soup pan mee that we always eat.

The shop was crowded with young adults and many had to share tables due to huge crowd. A mound of thick round noodles topped with ikan bilis, chopped scallion, a wee bit of table sugar, pork sliced and chopped, and tiny cubes of cracklin’, all crowned by a snow-white poached egg. After adding heaped spoonfuls of the la jiao that makes its way from table to table in a plastic tub, we dug in.
Kin Kin’s pan mee delivers on its promise—ultra chewy noodles and a la jiao light on oil and heavy on slow-roasted chili flavor that elicits a sharp tingle, rather than the sort of tongue-searing burn that might overpower the dish’s other tasty ingredients.

A good bowl of chili pan mee that leaves you yearning for more because…at RM5.80, the portion is really small.

Rating: 90% (Highly Recomended)

Restoran Kin Kin is located on the backstreet off Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman. Take a left turn at Pizza Hut followed by a right. The bright yellow signboard is hard to be missed.

PJ; Neu Vegetarian Restaurant

Neu Vegetarian Restaurant - located at the periphery of Menara PJ

Haaaaa... a special entry for u Vege fellas, "Vege-bon".. Hahaha... This place had been a famous spot for its Vegetarian food, This place mostly visited by Vegetarian Chinese and Indians...
Vast variety of good choices for ur dishes from Rice, Noodles, Ala Cart Dishes.... etc

Something special about this place, is that they have Vegetarian "Yong Tau Fu", which suprisingly taste better than the one prepared with meat.

The Broth that the serve the pieces with is really good... Excellent... also the stuffing that its inserted somehow taste so good (better than meat), i would eat here over the one with meat. Its about RM0.80 - 1.00 each.
I had Ying Yong Noodles & Hokkein mee, also Yong Tau Fu for sharing.

However one thing i have to comment is the waiter and waitresses, mostly burmese and are unable to converse well in english nor chinese, as for the one and only Malaysian Chinese there, hahah cant speak Cantonese of even a word of english, so u have to be doubly sure that ur orders are right and Persis to ur liking.

But is every Pisang Goreng good, there is this place located in the central of Old Town PJ, that had been here for many many year and had been the food i grew up with and there was no drop in the standard of its quality

Besides the fact that it is freakishly cheap, RM1 for 4 Pisang Gorend, beside that "Makcik Pisang Goreng" also sells a variety of stuff

PJ: Pasta Zanmai

Pasta Zanmai One Utama Petaling Jaya
Where should i have hmmm.... Japanese? Italian? hmmm.... well lets mix them both. A Japanese takes on Italian cusine? Pasta Zanmai in 1Utama is a spin-of from the popular Sushi Zanmai located in 1Utama too. I have been to Sushi Zanmai several times and find it quite interesting compare to other sushi restaurant, so I believe Pasta Zanmai should not dissapoint you guys.
Pasta Zanmai actually has a retail at the front of the shop selling Japanese stuffs and the restaurant is at the back occupying half of the shop. Therefore the space and seating capacity is kinda limited.
Lets start off, hmmm, Would something so Asian go well in fusion with European cuisine... to your suprise its awesome. I have been a huge fan of japanese food, and this had not let me down though disrupting its authenticity. They have double plating combo for one, that means u will be ordering mini dishes instead of one per person, which i feel i pretty good. Bring 8 person and u guys could share and taste the variety of 16 dishes. Sound good? This is just a snip it of the menu. There are ample of variety u could choose from. Also they always have their months special dishes which goes on promotion, its a good buy. The double plating cost RM23 only.... !! Goes well with a jug of cold iced green tea, RM3... OMG!! hahaha...
Deserts, suprisingly deserts are their specility too... taste awesome, they plate them elegantly. Taste fantastic.I had dinner with my other friends and the dinner was rather fulfilling costing me about RM56 total, thats money worth spending on hahaha...
Ratings: 92% (Extremely Highly recomended - If u had not been here - well, its a crime!!!)

Ice Cream: Swenson Ice Cream

Swenson Subang Parade
Hmm What to order??
In 1948, when Earle Swensen opened his first Ice Cream Shoppe in San Francisco atop Russian Hill, offering his ice cream as "Good as Father Used to Make", little did he realize that Swensen's would be today, a name synonymous with extraordinary delicious ice cream the world ever known.

Since then, more than 180 flavors of ice cream have been created and enjoyed by both young and old, making Earle Swensen's "America's Ice Cream Man". Ice cream lovers certainly agreed because today, there are over 200 Swensen's ice cream outlets all over the world including Asia, the Middle East, USA and South America.

Swensen's came to Singapore in 1979, and won the hearts of many with delicious ice cream sundaes in a warm, unpretentious ambience and a casual atmosphere. Friends and family meet in the cozy and comfortable booth seats with trademark tiffany lamps for relaxing meals or to celebrate special occasions.

Swensen's has developed over the years to become a restaurant chain offering not only ice cream, but fun and friendly casual-dining with a wide selection of hearty food, desserts, beverages, ice cream cakes and takeaway novelties. Now a household name in Singapore, Swensen’s is synonymous with sweet memories of good time spent with loved ones. Since the opening of the first 200-seater restaurant at Thomson Plaza in 1979, Swensen’s has expanded to over 20 full-service restaurants serving an all-day menu of food and ice cream sundaes, and continues to bring people together for hearty meals and shared memories.

Besides their famous ice creams they also do sell some savory dishes that u may choose from. A nice trip there for a thirst quencher during a scorching hot day, duh its Malaysia. Tuesday is EARTH-QUICK day.
Earth quake is a well deciorated plating of 8 of ur favourite ice cream, with toppings of chocolate, nuts, butterscotch, pineapple and strawberry sauce.

As for me i like my ice cream with strong chocolate flavours, so i had all 8 different types of chocolate ice cream with only choco and butterscotch toppings and sauce. They place a pepper shaker with dry ice giving the illusion of misty freezing sensation. N/P of this serving is RM48, but on Tuesday it is exactyly 50% off with the same quality and quantity of the Earthquick. Total i paid inclusive of tax was about RM25.46.
